Krishna Mahalingam Final Project MU230X

From vjmedia

For the final project for this class, I have arranged, recorded, and edited an acapella version of the song "Waiting for the End" by Linkin Park. This piece consists entirely of vocal tracks of my voice, and the voices of two other people, recorded from a microphone. These tracks will have effects and automation added to them to make them sound more like the instruments in the original song. The piece will be made in Garageband.

I already have the ability to record tracks into Garageband with a microphone, and I also already know how to use some of the basic effects and automations I will need, such as noise gates, echo, reverb, chorus, compressors, track pan, visual EQ, and more.

I still need to learn how to use additional effects to make each of the vocal tracks sound exactly the way I would like them to, such as making the solo track sound more powerful or making the background tracks sound more like instruments. Much of this should be possible using the effects mentioned above, but I plan to learn more advanced techniques to make the job easier and improve the product. I am going to learn a lot of this through experimentation with the many different effects and through searching the internet for ideas. If I happen to get confused about something in particular or am not able to find the information I need, I will ask the professor directly.

The final result of the project is an MP3 file which contains the recording of the song.
