Description:

I wanted to combine the remixing and mapping aspects of the course, so I decided to remix the song Closer by The Chainsmokers into the styles of each the Billboard top performing songs from 2008 leading up to 2016 (The year the song was released). I divided the original song up into equal parts for each target song, and matched the tempo for each part. Then I attempted to replicate the percussion and signature sounds for each of the tracks. I also attempted to mirror the original melodic parts of the target song's harmony while staying within the chords of Closer, which worked better for some songs than others. Some parts sound close to the original, but some were difficult to do accurately because of the lack of proper instruments in Ableton (for things like horns especially), and some because of my inability to match the exact sounds of the originals. The ending section is simply the original chords and vocals.
