Kofi Colecraft Final Presentation

From vjmedia

My idea for my final project is creating a summer mix featuring some of the hottest tunes out now. I have always been a huge fan of party music that come from the Caribbean. Due to my African heritage I have a passion for African party music. The beat that each of these songs bring forward is what makes them unique and music specifically made for dancing. I’ve always been “that” guy who not only has the original version of a certain song, but also has a culmination of various remixes to that song. I took this class to enhance and learn what it takes for the DJ’s such as DJ Khaled to enhance music that makes it enjoyable to dance to. I intend to create a summer remix featuring a few of the songs that have come out recently and people love to dance to. I will combine beats and lyrics from Latino, Caribbean, African, and U.S. music into one party mix track. I will remix, or as they say in dancehall and reggae “refix” these tracks. I will enhance the effects, beats, and tempos of each of the songs to make it into an appealing track for the club scene on the intent of creating a remix of my own. I already know how to put the beats/songs/ on one track, but skills I like a properly mixing the tracks smoothly. A skill I am yet to learn is how to remove the sound/ actual music from a track and have the lyrics remain. Hopefully I will learn that skill from class and YouTube or other sources as well. That skill is one I want to incorporate into my mix. My deliverable will be in the form of an mp3. Using Ableton, Garageband, Audacity, and Youtube I hope to create a jam that flows and appeals well to a club community. I hope to enhance the original tracks and make them more fun and creative. I will submit not only the final track but links to the original tracks in my final project submittal.
