  • Final Project:

My vision for this project was represent a day in the life of a rower on race day while having it be apart of a dream. Some transitions are a little rough but the first alarm plays a role in that race days start the minute I wake up and then I feel like suddenly I'm on the starting line hearing the "attention, row" command. Usually around 5 strokes after the starting sequence I have a moment of focus (represented by the ding) and then all I can hear are the oars clicking in sync. Running through my head are the inspirational quotes I had prepared the night before. There are a couple tidbits throughout the piece of my memory going back to being on the erg and the training involved there. Thinking about the hours of training is motivating to help keep pushing when you think you don't have anything left. Suddenly we have won the race and the last set of 2 counts represents the rowers about to throw their coxswain in the water traditionally to celebrate the win. There are a couple more strokes as the coxswain yells "weigh enough" and then the alarm goes off to show that it was all just a dream. This piece was fairly short implying that the race itself feels extremely short when I am rowing.
