I [my name is Darcy Milligan] wrote and recorded a song using Pro Tools, my guitars, voice, and random objects I found in my room. I already knew how to record into Pro Tools but I had very little experience with mixing and using plug-ins. Before this, I had mostly been using GarageBand on my tablet and quickly noticed that Pro Tools is quite different. I initially didn't look to make the most beautiful mix on planet Earth that spans through time and space, I just looked to mix it so it doesn't sound like mono-panned over-reverbed garbage. However, I got a tad carried away and messed around a lot with the panning, reverb, delay, EQs, and compressors to create a more in-depth understanding of what the song is about, which I found to be quite fun.

I wanted to implement MIDIs into the song as well; however, I only have the "Student Edition" of Pro Tools and they restrained me to about 15 tracks [which was how many acoustic tracks I had]. To add another compositional constraint, I asked my girlfriend to give me two phrases starting with the letters a-g and I made chord progressions out of them. Just a verse, pre-chorus, verse, pre-chorus. Short, sweet, and gets the point across.

"Augment"

I wrote and recorded a song using Pro Tools, my guitars, voice, and random objects I found in my room.

The deliverable is an audio file of the final mix. I started with the intention of making this song only available to my loved ones and those who stumbled across this page, but I might end up releasing it onto Bandcamp and the sorts. If you're interested, my artist name is Carseat, and I can be found pretty much anywhere, but no one knows I exist. Yet. We'll see. I'd be shocked if people did.

I hope you enjoy these strange two-ish minutes.

My name is Darcy Milligan, by the way.
