Hello!

I made a remix/arrangement from a game soundtrack I love (Virbank City from Pokémon Black/White) using Ableton Live. I knew how to use Ableton Live from a beginner's perspective and hadn't spent much time with it yet. I definitely learned a lot more about it after this project! I am very familiar with Garageband and Musescore so I might have done some quick mockups to get my ideas down before refining them in Ableton.

I wanted to learn more about audio/midi effects and using plug-ins through this project, since I've generally been inputting midi notes by hand and haven't done much audio work. The submission will be an audio file (mp3/wav) of the remix. Here's my video on the project, as well as the audio file:

Musically, I studied a piece of music from a game that I liked listening to, thinking of how to rearrange certain chords and instruments to give a different feeling to it. I attempted to recreate that sound with a similar melody on Ableton Live. I thought about which chords to change or keep, whether the tempo or key should be the same and how to make the music appealing to the listener. I also live recorded the melody with my flute. The intended audience for this project are fans of the game. Sometimes I just go on Youtube and search up game remixes, and find some really great ones by lesser-known people! Doing little niche things like this can bring a lot of joy to those that explicitly search for them. Thanks for stopping by!
