Description:

This final project is an extension of the idea behind Project 4, Sound Sculpt. Having to listen for underlying parts to a composition that I usually don't notice individually is both interesting and challenging. I hope to revisit a video game song from my childhood - the N Final Battle Theme from Pokemon Black and White. I thought it would be fun to recreate and maybe add some flair to.

I had some prior knowledge of effects and generally how to use DAWs (particularly relevant to this project is prior familiarity with Ableton Live) from the earlier projects in the course. I also have been introduced to listening for and picking out the discrete parts of a composition. I wanted to improve upon these skills, especially my familiarity with DAWs. My friend has Mixcraft and I, for a long time, have been wanting to learn how to use it (and see if I liked it enough to buy it as well). This was a perfect opportunity to try that.

This project is mostly for personal satisfaction and fun, but a potential audience that would care about this work is other people familiar with the song and/or the game. I came across other people's recreations of the same song, and each different rendition helped me better appreciate the effort and artistry behind it.
