The author uses several historic figures and turns them into fleshed out characters. They are certainly not wooden figures. I can't really say I had a 'favourite character', but some of them are very interesting (Bartolome, Andres and a few other ones). One of the main points of this book is to show how dwarfs were thought of and discriminated against, and a main theme seems to be bullying-- Bartolome is even bullied by Nicolisto (the Infanta's favourite dwarf, who does not like Bartolome at all). |
