For my final project I made an orchestral arrangement of the main theme from The Mandalorian, the new live action Star Wars series on Disney Plus. I think it does an excellent job of telling a new and interesting story in the style of the original trilogy of Star Wars and the composer, Ludwig Goransson highlights this nicely with the music. He combines John Willams' "space opera" style with a more classic Western vibe to create a very captivating soundtrack. I decided to try my hand and recapturing this blend of styles. I unfortunately did not get to finish the piece, so it ends a bit prematurely. The second half of the track is also not quite as polished as the first half. To try and replicate real instruments more accurately, I altered the velocities of notes and placed some of them slightly off the grid to create a more human-like feel. This is noticeable in the first half of the song, but the listener starts getting blasted by noise towards the end. This is a project I will definitely continue to work on to try and do justice to the original version. | For my final project I made an orchestral arrangement of the main theme from The Mandalorian, the new live action Star Wars series on Disney Plus.
