The Particular composition was an attempt at creating a modern trap song—a trap song that appealed to me in particular. However, with no composition experience I felt like a fish out of water. How would I be able to compete with artists today? But since the beginning of Electronic Music Composition my goal was to learn to do just that. Over the course of the term I have been shown various concepts and methods to composing from mapping, randomness, instrument creation, and loop-based compositions. I was particularly interested in the later since it is predominantly how trap music is created today. As a result, I used the method to create my final piece. I found some loops on Garage band, the internet, and developed some musical ideas myself. Although I do not consider the piece to be amazing, I see it as something to grow from. For example, I can see that I need to work on transitions between my loops since I only used a fading effect; not the best for Trap songs since you want hard-hitting transitions. Or the fact that I included different sounding loops, suggesting multiple musical ideas and thereby creating discontinuity. Either way, the final composition is only the beginning of my composition career and has shown me lots to grow from. But one thing is for certain, the Brass timbre will always be my favorite sound so no matter where my composition takes me I will always include a hint of the BRASS! | The Particular composition was an attempt at creating a modern trap song—a trap song that appealed to me in particular.
