This composition is a pseudo-procedurally generated piece based on two different activites, Climbing and Slack Lining. I selected these activities, one because I have a passion for both of them, and two because they both have increments (steps for slacking, holds for climbing) and can be executed in vastly different styles depending on who is trying them. This composition focuses on attaining the high level "feel" of climbing and slack lining instead of more traditional melody. A number of things we taken into consideration in designing the generation of the piece. For instrumentation I chose strings for slacklining, both because I liked the coincidence of strings for a string, and also because I wanted slack-lining to be the bass sound of the piece. For the climbers I chose instrumentation on their style. Kyle (the left climber) is quick and generally very precise with his placements, so I used piano to demonstrate his "punchy" style. Mike (the right climber, also me) is slower and hits holds with more varying attacks, sometimes hits hard, sometimes just places his hand on the hold, For this I used a steel guitar, since it had a more noticeable dynamic variation. For the climbers, its worth noting as well that for more difficult moves, or holds that are hit harder, the velocity of the note is increased.
