MU230X Final Project - Shuyang Sun 

 At this point, I've already learned to use software to create or edit music. I like 
Chinese style popular music. Since I don't know how to play Chinese instrument, I 
will use Garage band to recompose a famous composition in China, which is named 
Qing Hua Ci. It was created by Jay Zhou in 2007 and has already been played by 
different instruments. So I want to make a composition to be played by various 
instruments, including Western instrument and traditional Chinese instrument. 

 I like Chinese music, especially played by traditional Chinese instruments. Thus, 
in the first week, I decided to make a composition which is an integration of 
traditional Chinese music and Western music. Since I don't know how to play 
traditional Chinese instrument, I searched lots of music online and compared them; 
how long it was, how to make it with Western music and what their beats are. I found 
two of them that I wanted to rearrange. One is "Han Gong Qiu Yue", the other one 
"Qing Hua Ci". 

 At the beginning of the second week, I rearranged "Han Gong Qiu Yue" at first, 
but I found that it was difficult to be played by Western instruments. Then I began 
playing "Qing Hua Ci". First, I found it was played by Gu Zheng, which is a famous 
traditional Chinese instrument. It was pleasant to be played. Then I wanted to add 
instruments into it by Garage Band. The hardest things were I didn't the beats of the 
song and I didn't know how to play the piano so that it was hard to input notes into the 
software. So I spent a long to listen it over and over again until I felt that I knew the 
beats. 

 During the third week, I played it by the flute since I studied it for a long time. To 
input notes into Garage Band, I memorized the music score and put numbers onto 
keyboards as 1 - Do, 2- Re, 3-Mi, 4- Fa, 5- Sol, 6 - La, 7- Ti. It took a long time for 
me to input all the notes. Finally, I added some effects into it such as track volume. 

 In conclusion, the main instrument for this project will be Gu Zheng. Then, I 
played the flute by myself. Also, I added the violin, the piano and other instruments in 
Garage band to make it as a large-scale composition. It will be delivered as an MP3.
